The cabin restoration is quite an undertaking. Upon purchasing the ranch on March 1st, 2008 - that is the first time that that old cabin has been occupied since my buddy Don Edinborough died while living there. The cabin has been ransacked by many with holes kicked in the sides, trash left everywhere and broken beer bottles & cans to deal with.

The first thing that we did was borrow my buddy tractor (Terry, gas station owner) and took it out back to ding a big ass fire pit to burn all of the "legal burnables" such as all of the old wood tables and chairs.

Now it's time for about 5 gallons of gas... a match... and a cold beer!

Now we got most of the inside of the cabin cleaned out. There was so much trash everywhere. We recycled all of the steel, plastic and wire. We had to clean up all of the broken windows, destroyed furniture and everything else that has compiled in the last few years.

We took apart the old fire pit in the front yard and moved it further out to keep smoke and soot from polluting the cabin and front yard. We salvaged a huge & heavy steel container that was about 3'x7' and about 3' deep. We buried it in the front yard and used all of the old fire pit rocks to put around it. This is now an awesome fire pit for many to sit around and enjoy in the evenings.

We moved the old deuce & 1/2 further out in the front yard to open up the view. This was purchased and used to transport many of JR's & Bonney's guests for the wedding that they had at the trees at Rasor Road. JR is the prior owner of the cabin and a very good friend of Orange County Keith's. When JR & Bonney got married at the trees, many people could not drive their cars out back, so they were loaded up into the deuce and a half and chauffeured out back with a very bumpy ride and cold beers.

Then we decided to start moving some of the big items from the side yard that we were not going to use out to the hill on the left side of the cabin to create a new shooting range. We don't want shooting from the top deck anymore to keep from having to walk on gun shells that are left behind. We moved the old VW bus, an air conditioner, swamp cooler, some old propane cans & more things!

Now its time to start remodeling the front yard a little. We have decided to build a patio cover for shade to the left of the pool. We started with importing sand from the dunes that we own. We are also building a paver patio along with a sandy beach to lay out on.

After diggin all of the holes, we had to set the posts. This new front yard is going to have a sand beach, tiki bar, patio cover and an outdoor shower and all of this is located behind a new fire pit and horse shoe pit.

In front of the new patio cover, we dug a planter bed and imported some of our creosol bushes for a natural privacy screen. Then we used some salvaged logs for fence posts and install some salvaged wire to create an old looking fence. This has added a nice touch to the front of the cabin.
